DejaOffice: Time Zone Shift

When traveling between time zones, most smartphones and tablets (with data plans) change their time to match the time zone of the cell tower they are connected to. This time change can affect the calendar on your device. Most devices shift your events based on the time zone change to show events relevant to the time zone they were created in. This is an often debated issue as some people like this functionality and others dislike it. By default, when moving into a new time zone, DejaOffice will prompt the user if they want their events to shift. DejaOffice can also be set to never or always shift events.

Time Zone Shift - Not Decided/No/Yes

To change this setting in DejaOffice, go to Settings > General Settings > Time Zone Shift.

[Not Decided] Asks when changing time zones if you want event times to shift.

Example:
1. Set PC and DejaOffice time zone set to Pacific time
2. Sync an event that starts at 1PM from PC to DejaOffice - event shows same time on PC and DejaOffice
3. Move phone to different time zone - Eastern time
4. DejaOffice prompts to ask if you want the event to shift: "Timezone has changed. Do you want calendar events to shift due to the timezone change?" Choosing Yes will show the event at 4PM. Choosing No will leave the event at 1PM

[No] Ignore the time zone at your current location. This prevents event display times from shifting when you travel to a different time zone.

Example:
1. Set PC and DejaOffice time zone set to Pacific time
2. Sync an event that starts at 1PM from PC to DejaOffice - event shows same time on PC and DejaOffice
3. Move phone to different time zone - Eastern time
4. The event does not shift and stays at 1PM, ignoring the time zone change.

[Yes] Adjusts the event display times using the time zone at your current location.

Example:
1. Set PC and DejaOffice time zone set to Pacific time
2. Sync an event that starts at 1PM from PC to DejaOffice - event shows same time on PC and DejaOffice
3. Move phone to different time zone - Eastern time
4. DejaOffice will shift the event to 4PM, relevant to Eastern time.
