CompanionLink Advanced Settings
Reread PC Data
This will re-read all records (according to the sync settings) from the PC database, updating the records on the sync target. If there are records on the sync target that are different from the PC database, those records will be overwritten with the PC data. Does not delete data from the device, so if there are more records on the sync target than the PC, those records are preserved. The example below uses Outlook and Android, but these names will change based on your selected database and handheld device.
- 1. Open CompanionLink and click Settings on the left.
- 2. Click Advanced in the bottom left.
- 3. Find the Applications tab at the top.
- 4. Put a check in the Reread box for the selected database in the bottom left.
- Please note that rereading is a troubleshooting step. Rereads do not have to be enabled each time in order to sync.
Reread Handheld Data
Same as Reread PC Data, but in reverse. Re-reads all records from the sync target (device) back into the PC database.
- 1. Open CompanionLink and click Settings on the left.
- 2. Click Advanced in the bottom left.
- 3. Find the Applications tab at the top.
- 4. Put a check in the Reread box for the selected Handheld device in the bottom left.
- Please note that rereading is a troubleshooting step. Rereads do not have to be enabled each time in order to sync.
Language
This menu allows you to specify what language you would like CompanionLink in.
- 1. Open CompanionLink and click Settings on the left.
- 2. Click Advanced in the bottom left.
- 3. Find the Advanced Settings tab at the top.
- 4. Click the drop down for Language and select the desired language.
- For the language change to take full effect you many need to close and reopen CompanionLink.
Purge and Reload All
This option deletes data from the sync target (device), then rereads all records from the PC database and performs a fresh sync. If there are records on the sync target that do not exist on the PC database, they will be deleted forever. NOTE: This will never Purge the PC database, only the sync target.
- The purge option only works on the handheld, CompanionLink is unable to purge the content of your database.
- 1. Open CompanionLink and click Settings on the left.
- 2. Click Advanced in the bottom left.
- 3. Find the Advanced Settings tab at the top.
- 4. Select the check boxes on the right for each dataset next to Wipe "" on Device before sync.
- 5. Return to the main menu of CompanionLink and sync with the device. After one complete sync, the Wipe boxes will automatically uncheck.
- Please note that a Purge and Reload is a troubleshooting step. This does not have to be enabled each time in order to sync.
Set Password
Some users may wish to have a password associated with CompanionLink that must be entered in able to utilize CompanionLink. To enable and set your password you can select this option.
- 1. Open CompanionLink and click Settings on the left.
- 2. Click Advanced in the bottom left.
- 3. Find the Support tab at the top.
- 4. Click Set Password and enter a password of your choosing.
- This only sets a password for the Settings of CompanionLink. You may want to use this if you are setting CompanionLink up for a user that you do not want to change the settings.
