It features a nice little slide-out keyboard, which is rare amongst the many touchscreen-only Android devices out there. Introducing DejaOffice for Android

CompanionLink is proud to announce DejaOffice for Android, a mobile office application suite for Android-powered devices.

DejaOffice contains robust contacts, calendar, tasks and notes apps that allow users to efficiently view, enter, update and manage contact and schedule information from their phone. Android takes the lead in US smartphone market

In a report released today by research firm NPD Group, it was shown that the sharp growth of the Android OS over the last two quarters has helped it surpass the iPhone and secure the number two spot in US smartphone share behind BlackBerry. Android’s remarkable growth can be attributed in part to the large success of the Motorola DROID on Verizon. Android has also done well due to the fact that it has permeated all the major US carriers, with models available such as the HTC Hero on Sprint, and the Motorola BACKFLIP on AT&T.

CompanionLink has been on the forefront of Android synchronization, offering support for Android since the flagship T-Mobile G1 launched in 2008. CompanionLink now offers two methods to sync Android – wired USB sync and wireless sync through Google. CompanionLink is planning to soon launch DejaOffice for Android, an integrated suite of calendar, contacts, tasks and notes apps that provide more advanced CRM functions than the native Android apps. Dell Announces New Android Phones

Some drool-inducing new phones from Dell have just been spotted by the fine folks over at Engadget. Dell’s upcoming lineup includes new Android-powered and Windows 7 Series devices, as well as a pair of Android tablets. 2010 is shaping up to be a very good year for Android fans.

As these new phones launch, thousands of consumers will be looking for ways to sync these phones to their PCs. That’s where CompanionLink comes in. DejaOffice, a mobile office application suite for Android, will provide these new phones with business friendly contacts, calendar, tasks and notes apps. DejaOffice users will also be able to sync their new Dell phones to their PCs using CompanionLink. Compatible desktop software includes Outlook, Lotus Notes, ACT! by Sage, Palm Desktop and Goldmine.

Little is currently known about how the Windows 7 Series phones will sync with the PC. CompanionLink will continue to monitor this new smartphone platform, and as more details arise, will evaluate whether support for Windows 7 Series will be offered.

Google planning Android-powered television

Google recently announced plans to bring their Android operating system into living rooms everywhere. Google, Intel, and Sony are working on a set-top box that would integrate traditional television overlayed with online elements. The potential is tremendous- news, emails, music, videos and more all instantly available on the TV, and integrated into the programming.

CompanionLink currently ships sync products for Android devices that allows users to sync their contacts, calendar, tasks and memos from their desktop PCs. It is not currently known if Google’s TV product will have modules for business functionality, such as a calendar. This is something we here at CompanionLink will keep our eyes on as it develops.

New Update to CompanionLink USB Sync

We have great news if you use CompanionLink to sync with Android via USB cable! We have just released a major update to the Android app that works with CompanionLink on your PC to sync data.

The update brings many new features to the Android onboard app, including month- and week-views to your calendar. Touchscreen navigation has also been improved with the addition of swipe commands to move calendar day, week and month forwards or backwards. In addition, we have updated calendar category support that includes color-coding for easier identification of key appointments. Speed and stability have also been improved.

There is no charge for the app update. Here’s how you get the update:

1. Tap on the Android Market app on your phone.

2. Tap on Downloads to see all the apps you currently have.

3. Tap on our app, which should say “Update available” next to it.

The new Nexus One from Google is a powerful device; however, multiple reports indicate that the Nexus One does not have built-in support for synchronizing Microsoft Exchange calendar. This lack of Exchange calendar sync support has been verified by CNET.com in their reviews as well.

2 ways to sync ACT! with Droid and other Android-based phones

Got a Droid, or any other Android-based device? With CompanionLink, you have two options to sync ACT! data with your Android-based phone.

1. Wireless sync with Android-based phones

One of the features of CompanionLink is its ability to sync ACT! data with Google, which automatically feeds the address book and calendar apps on Android-based phones. Customers can use CompanionLink Express or CompanionLink Professional to sync their ACT! contacts, calendar activities, notes, and history data.

2. Wired (USB) sync with Android-based phones

CompanionLink will launch a direct USB sync solution between ACT! and Android-based phones by January 1, 2010. The PC solution will work with a free Android app on the device that will include a custom calendar, tasks and notes/memos apps that support categories, priorities, and search.
