Symtoms
You are trying to configure a synchronization for an Apple device with the USB cable via Outlook and CompanionLink prompts you to install iTunes or update to version 7 or better of the program and you already have the latest version of iTunes installed and or have version 7 or better.
Fix
Perform a repair installation of iTunes. The steps below have been gleaned from Apple's own support site.
Repairing the iTunes installation in Windows Vista and Windows 7
- Quit iTunes, if it is open.
- On the Start menu, click Control Panel and under Programs, click Uninstall a program. Alternately, in Classic View of Control Panel, click Programs and Features.
- Click iTunes in the list of installed programs.
- Click Repair.
- Again, click Repair.
Repairing the iTunes installation in Windows XP and Windows 2000
- Quit iTunes, if it is open.
- Click Start, and point to Control Panel.
- Open Add or Remove Programs.
- Click iTunes in the list of installed programs.
- Click the Change/Remove button. The InstallShield Wizard opens.
- Select Repair and click Next. Continue with the installation.
- At the Maintenance Successful screen, select "Yes, I want to restart my computer now."
- Click Finish.
