Quick Links

CompanionLink offers a remote one time configuration service where we set everything up for you called RunStart. Or we provide direct help through Premium Support. USB Packet Sync is similar in function to Wifi sync, this means that it is more reliable and can be faster than regular USB sync, USB Packet Sync is recommended for all USB users.

Important:USB Packet Sync is only available on CompanionLink 11, this is a new way to sync over USB that has some advantages to regular USB sync. You can still setup regular USB sync Here.

USB Packet Sync vs Regular USB Sync

USB Packet Sync is an incremental sync similar to Wifi sync. Regular USB sync, the entire database is copied to the PC and then changes are written to it, then the database is copied back to the phone. If you pull the cable or the phone becomes otherwise disconnected while the database is being copied back to the phone the database will corrupt. This can cause data loss and you may need to restore your database from a backup. USB Packet Sync fixes this by having the sync be incremental, so each change is pushed individually to the phone, so if the phone becomes disconnected prematurely, the database remains intact. In addition, because the whole database does not need to be copied over to the PC and back, this can save some time on larger databases.
